Pediatric Services

The children we serve would spend their lives in a hospital in an intensive care unit if we didn’t bring them home with homecare. We provide a comprehensive healthcare service. Whatever service or equipment is needed, we’ll make sure we get that for them. We provide a more holistic and cooperative approach to service than any other companies out there.

We make the transition from hospital to home care comfortable because ‘there’s no place like home.’

The Therapy Referral Process

When your child has been referred to SHC, our Intake Department staff will process the referral, verify insurance coverage, obtain the Physician’s Order and acquire insurance authorization. Our qualified and knowledgeable staff provides a comprehensive clinical assessment of your child’s needs in the safe and familiar surroundings of your home.

Developing A Therapy Plan

Our therapy team will work with you and your physician or specialist to establish a therapy plan that fully accommodates your child’s needs. Specific treatment goals and long-term measurement plans will be developed to achieve optimum outcomes for your child. Our therapists work directly with you and members of your family to incorporate specific therapy treatments into your child’s daily routine.

Scheduling Your Therapy Visit

Our therapy team will coordinate directly with you to schedule therapy visits in your home, at your child’s school, or at your child’s day care center. We will make every effort to schedule visits at times and places that are most convenient for you and your daily schedule.

Physical Therapy

Our pediatric physical therapists improve a child’s gross motor skills (everyday activity that uses the body’s large muscle groups), allowing the child to reach the highest level of independence. Physical therapy also improves strength, enhances learning opportunities and eases care giving. Physical therapy helps patients to participate or return to their daily activities and routines in the home, school and community.

Occupational Therapy

Our pediatric occupational therapists improve a child’s physical development, social emotional development, cognition, and sensory processing skills to assist the child in maximizing functional potential in all areas of daily living. Occupational therapists also have the ability to evaluate a child’s skills of play, school performance, and activities of daily living for developmental and age appropriateness.

Speech / Language Therapy

Our pediatric speech/language pathologists improve a child’s feeding, verbal communication, articulation and other communication skills that are needed to participate in everyday activities. Speech therapy provides treatment for speech disorders that involve the actual production of words, such as articulation, pitch, fluency and volume. Language therapy provides treatment for language disorders associated with receptive language, or the ability to understand words spoken, or the ability to put words together to communicate.
